I was always fascinated by the crime documented in the book Bad Blood,
where, around 1975, Marlene Olive (then 16) directed the murder of her
adoptive parents by her boyfriend. He went to jail and may be up for
parole this year. She was eventually let out of juvenile institutions at
age 21.

From time to time I hear she became a druggie, a prostitute, etc. I
heard in the past year she was arrested for passing bad checks, etc. in
Bakersfield CA and was bound for jail. I was wondering if anyone knew
more about her whereabouts, her life as am adult, etc. This is the first
true crime story I ever read, and to this day it stands out to me as one
of the most chilling cases ever.

Thanks java. I also found that stuff per some google searches, but what
I am wondering is what is going on with Marlene today. I heard she
became a hooker and a drug addict. She must be almost 50 by now, and
after decades of hard living I doubt she is surviving as a prostitue
now. I also heard in Feb 2003 she pleaded gulty in a Bakersfield, CA
court for passing bad checks and a slew of other charges for which she
would be destined for jail due to her criminal record. Until hearing
that I assumed she was probably dead. It sparked my curiosity, hence my
posting - asking about her current whereabouts and her life overall as
an adult. I just cannot comprehend how one goes about life after that
kind of thing. I also cannot comprehend what types of people befriend
her, if she goes by her real name, etc. etc. I guess I am just overall
curious - it was my first true-crime book :-)

I remember that story too (probably because of her name and she's
about my age). I read about it in a terrific book "Sole Survivor" by
Elliot Leyton. It was about Children who kill their families.ONe of
the cases was, of course, De Feo (amityville). He is still in Jail.
But I also wonder about this story, if anyone knows. There's always
google!

Unfortunately all Google turned up were references to the book Bad
Blood, a reference to a Max Haines site (HIGHLY recommended for
true-crimers by the way - he has 4 books on old cases!), and a few old
articlesrevealing nothing new in the past 30 years. However, when I went
to Amazon to look at the book again I noticed someone posted in the
"Book Review" section of Bad Blood that she was arrested in Bakersfield
CA in 2003 and pleaded guilty to passing bad checks, having drug
paraphanalia, and being on drugs. It went on to copy and paste an
Associated Press article from around Feb 2003 saying that her pleading
guilty to those charges, which could lead to 1-9 years in jail, and due
to her criminal record it could really end up being 9 years. Since here
juvie records were destroyed when she turned 21 (State law in CA
apparenly), I assume the criminal records are from her adult years.
Therefore I have to believe some folks out there still run into her and
know of her present situation. I also am the exact same age as her,
maybe that is why I can relate to the time and culture in which she grew up.
